Dover Athletic manager Jake Leberl expects to make more changes to his side on game-to-game basis this season ahead of National League South trips to Bath City and Eastbourne Borough
Manager Jake Leberl expects to make more changes to Dover's side on a game-to-game basis this season.
Whites’ National League South return began with a 3-2 home loss against fellow newly-promoted team AFC Totton on Saturday.
Leberl stuck with the line-up that started their Isthmian Premier play-off final victory at Dartford in May, but it was a move which backfired as Dover found themselves 3-0 down by half-time.
Only the introduction of substitutes helped striker George Nikaj bag a second-half double in a belated comeback.
Leberl, presented with a cheque for £3,718 by Dover Athletic Supporters’ Club to fund the purchase of scouting tool Wyscout ahead of the AFC Totton fixture, has often been loyal to his players.
But he expects to make more switches this term as Wyscout help them assess each sides’ respective strengths and weaknesses more thoroughly.
“We have got Wyscout so I’d like to thank the supporters’ trust for their support,” said Leberl, whose side will visit Bath this weekend and Eastbourne on Tuesday.
Report: Dover 2-3 AFC Totton
Leberl: ‘It looked like we had been on the coach for six hours!’
“It gives us another tool so we’ll be able to see a lot more of Bath and their games.
“With the squad we have got, I think we’ll see more changes in our teams (from match-to-match) as we set up against other teams’ strengths.
“We have got good variety in the squad. It’s not all about loyalty.
"It’s about what we think is the best team on the day to win a game.”
Dover have also made plenty of signings, keen to get first-team chances.
Forwards Decarrey Sheriff and Francis Mampolo, alongside midfielder George Wilkinson, impressed off the substitutes’ bench against AFC Totton.
