M66 closed in both directions after 'person falls from bridge' - latest updates

Traffic has been stopped on the M66 after reports of a person falling from a bridge. It has happened on the stretch of the motorway between junction 1 for Ramsbottom and junction 2 for Bury.

The road has been closed in both directions whilst emergency services deal with the incident, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

They are warning rush hour commuters to expect "significant delays" and have asked them to be patient.
