M602 traffic LIVE as motorway shut after crash with long delays - updates

The M602 has been closed due to a collision. All traffic travelling westbound on the motorway has been stopped with long delays being reported.

The crash occurred from junction two near Golda Brook Road, which borders Trafford Park and Eccles, to the Eccles interchange.

Vehicles stuck in the closure are being released.

A diversion has been created via the A576 Centenary Way to Parkway Circus then the A5081 Parkway to junction nine of the M60.

Traffic monitoring tool Inrix says: "M602 Westbound closed, long delays due to accident from J2 A576 Gilda Brook Road (Trafford Park / Eccles) to J1 M60 J12 (Eccles Interchange).

"Congestion to J3 (Regent Road Roundabout).

An update from National Highways reads: "M602 westbound between J2 Eccles and J1 M62/M60.

"Greater Manchester ROAD CLOSED Due to a collision.

"Traffic in the closure will shortly be released forwards to run past the scene in the outside lane (lane 3)."

A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and suspicion of testing positive for a class B substance. A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries following after the collision this morning.
