M60 traffic LIVE updates as two lanes closed and queues build up

Commuters are facing delays on the M60 this morning due to overrunning roadworks.

Two lanes of traffic are currently closed on the M60 anticlockwise between junctions 21 at Chadderton and 19 at Middleton and Heaton Park.

The exit slip road at junction 19 is also closed, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system.

National Highways says roadworks were due to take place until 6am this morning (May 20).

But work has continued over the past hour and queues are now building up ahead of rush hour.

Traffic is tailing back past junction 22 at Oldham, with delays building up.

The entry slip road to the M60 at junction 20, in Blackley, is also closed while the roadworks take place.

An update from Inrix added: "Two lanes closed due to overrunning roadworks on M60 anticlockwise from J21 A663 Broadway J21 (Hollinwood) to J19 A576 Middleton Road (Heaton Park Three Arrows Roundabout)."

Queues appear to have eased between junctions 19 and 20.

Delays are still in place approaching junction 20 anticlockwise, tailing back past junction 22.

There also appear to be delays on surrounding roads in the Chadderton area.

Queues are tailing back towards junction 23 at Ashton-under-Lyne.

The exit slip road is also closed at junction 19, plus the entry slip road at junction 20 in Blackley.

Works had been due to end at 6am but are ongoing this morning.
