M60 traffic live: Twelve-mile queue and delays on motorway due to multiple crashes

There are major delays on the M60 this evening following two crashes. There are currently hour-long delays with miles of building queues between Eccles and Oldham.

Police and fire crews were called to the anticlockwise carriageway between J18 for the M66 (Simister Island) and J17 for Prestwich and Whitefield at 2.17pm due to a five car pile up.

All traffic was temporarily stopped earlier this afternoon, with three lanes closed following the collision. There were three-mile queues and delays of at least 30 minutes at around 2.30pm.

Long delays remained throughout the afternoon before a further crash was reported with two lanes currently closed on the M60 between J13 for Worsley and J12 for the M62 and Eccles interchange. Motorists have been warned of delays of up to 60 minutes.

Long delays remain on the M60 which is being worsened by rush hour traffic.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, there are 'long delays' due to the earlier crash anticlockwise from J13 A575 Walkden Road (Worsley) to J12 M62 J12 (Eccles Interchange). There is congestion to M62 J21 (Milnrow). Lane one and two (of four) were closed, delays not helped by rush hour traffic.

There are currently queues of 12 miles on the M60 anticlockwise between J13 for Worsley and M62 J21 for Milnrow.

There are further delays clockwise before J3 for Kingsway (A34) with congestion to J23 for Ashton-under-Lyne.

Inrix says: "Severe delays, two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M60 anticlockwise from J13 A575 Walkden Road (Worsley) to J12 M62 J12 (Eccles Interchange). Congestion to M62 J21 (Milnrow). Travel time is around 60 minutes."
