M60 crash LIVE updates as motorway closed after 'serious' incident

A part of the M60 has been closed this morning following a 'serious' crash in Trafford.

Vehicles are being held on the clockwise carriageway between junctions eight at Carrington and nine at Urmston this morning (September 25).

It follows a serious collision according to National Highways.

Queues are building up approaching the scene, with traffic cameras showing heavy traffic in the area.

The motorway is now closed clockwise from junctions six at Sale to nine, with a diversion in place.

A post from Inrix said: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M60 clockwise from J8 (Carrington) to J9 A5081 Park Way (Trafford Park).

"All traffic stopped around 06:10."

In an update, a National Highways spokesperson wrote on X: "The #M60 clockwise is closed between J6 (#Sale) and J9 (#TraffordPark) due to a serious collision. Traffic is being diverted locally."
