M60 closed due 'to police led incident' - latest updates
A stretch of the M60 is closed in both directions this morning (Friday, July 14) due to what is being described as a police-led incident.
The motorway has been shut between J23 (Aston-Under-Lyme) and J22 (Oldham) since around 1.30am. Lengthy diversions are in place for both clockwise and anticockwise traffic.
No further details about the nature of the incident have been released at this stage. However, all three emergency services and National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance.
In a statement on its website National Highways said: "The M60 is closed in both directions between J23 (Aston-Under-Lyme) and J22 (Oldham) due to an incident that is being led by Greater Manchester police.
"All emergency services and Traffic Officers assisting in the response."
