M4 weather warning issued for drivers in Wales - latest updates

Motorists in Wales are being warned to remain vigilant amid poor driving conditions on the M4 during the early hours of the morning between the major cities of Cardiff and Swansea.

Traffic Wales South is urging drivers to take extra care on the motorway while heading in both directions between junction 34 for the Miskin Interchange and junction 49 for the Pont Abraham services in Swansea.

In a public safety alert at 12.30am on Saturday, the official Twitter account for Traffic South Wales which provides Welsh Government motorway and trunk road information tweeted: "M4: Both directions : J34 Miskin to J49 Pont Abraham : Poor driving conditions"

The Met Office has warned of cloud thickening overnight in Wales with some heavy rain arriving from the south.
