LIVE Wales traffic and weather: M4 warning for drivers - latest updates
Traffic South Wales have issued an alert for drivers on the M4 this morning.
Due to the current bad weather in the south of the country, motorists have been told to drive carefully on the stretch of motorway between junction 30 (Cardiff Gate) and junction 49 (Pont Abraham), in both directions. Poor driving conditions are making journeys pretty treacherous in places, with standing water on many parts of the route.
With a risk of heavy downpours continuing into Wednesday – with several flood alerts being issued – roads are expected to be battered by prolong spells of rain and drivers take extra care when making journeys.
The Met Office says Wales can expect spells of sunshine and scattered showers this morning, alongside lighter winds than of late. The forecaster says showers could be heavy at first, but they will ease in the afternoon. Maximum temperature of 15 °C are expected.
Natural Resources Wales has four flood alerts in place, for the upper and lower Towy, the North Gwynedd catchment area in North West Wales, and the River Rhyd Hir in Pwllheli.
