M4 stretch closed near Margam after overnight crash causes hours of disruption

Part of the M4 is closed this morning following a crash overnight. At around 3.27am South Wales Police said that they were at the scene of a crash on the M4 at Margam.

There are long delays with the motorway closed in both directions between junction 40 for Taibach and junction 38 at Margam eastbound and from junction 38 to junction 39 for Groes on the westbound side.. Congestion stretches back to before junction 44 for Llansamlet on the eastbound side while traffic monitoring service Inrix reports there are also delays on routes through Port Talbot.

Disruption is easing at the scene of a separate crash on the eastbound side at junction 48 for Llanelli. That incident was reported shortly before 7am but has now been cleared.
