M4 sees delays of nearly an hour in Newport - live updates

There were delays of up to an hour on parts of the M4 in Newport on Thursday evening, while there were also significant delays on the motorway westbound stretch in Monmouthshire.

Delays were up to 20 minutes between junctions 23A at Magor and 25 at Caerleon following an earlier accident on the westbound service which led to the closure of one lane. Emergency services including from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Gwent Police attended the scene.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix reported that delays were around 50 minutes heading westbound on the M4 at Brynglas Tunnels.
