Live updates as M4 accident and car fire cause long delays for motorists

An accident is causing long delays on the M4 near Newport this morning. There has also been a car fire on the motorway near Neath Port Talbot.

Traffic monitors are showing that the accident had blocked one lane on the eastbound carriageway between junction 24 Coldra and junction 23A Magor services.

All lanes re-opened by 7.25am but congestion remains back to junction 28 Tredegar Park and travel time is 40 minutes.

In the other incident, a vehicle fire has closed one lane between junction 38 Margam and junction 40 Port Talbot. The fire is out but one lane remains closed. Traffic Wales says that fire crews are at the scene.
