Lyndon Dykes ready for QPR relegation scrap as Scotland star eyes up Euro 2024 momentum

Lyndon Dykes is focused on helping Queens Park Rangers keep their place in the English Championship but also hopes that a strong finish to the campaign will stand him in good stead for Euro 2024 with Scotland next summer.

The 28-year-old has netted just four league goals in 30 matches so far this season for former Hearts target Marti Cifuentes' men, who sit just a point above the drop zone with nine games remaining. But Dykes, who has been included in Steve Clarke's squad for the friendly double header against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland later this month, is hopeful that some stellar displays in the closing weeks of the campaign will ensure he is on the plan to Germany in June.

Speaking to tribalfootball.com, he said: “You want to play in major tournaments, it's a massive thing in your career. It's a long way away so I just want to try and keep my head focused, make sure I'm staying fit, do the best I can for QPR and hopefully I'm on the plane with Scotland."

Asked about the quality amongst the squad, he replied: “Yeah, all great Premier League players. I could name the whole squad and every player's an outstanding talent. The standard is very high and we've showed that over this whole campaign."

Dykes, who has scored 9 goals in 35 matches for his country since making his debut in 2020, concedes this season has been a struggle. He added: “Obviously, this season has not been what everyone wanted. We knew it was going to be a tough season but we still wouldn't have thought we would be where we are now.

"It's been a hard season for me. I'm disappointed in a lot of aspects, but it's been a strange season in itself. I've played a lot of positions this year, but that comes with football and I'm happy to do it for any
