Lyndon Dykes admits Georgia laser pen frustrations but Scotland star refuses to use blinding lights as excuse

Lyndon Dykes was blinded by the lights in Georgia after being targeted by a laser attack throughout Scotland’s 2-2 draw.

Steve Clarke’s coaching staff complained to the match officials after seeing a green beam tracking the striker’s every move from the stand. Dykes said: “I had it at both ends, seeing the light in my eyes, but what can you do? Obviously it’s not ideal but you just have to get on with it. It’s not something that’s very nice. But to be fair it wasn’t all the fans in Georgia who were doing it. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again. I didn’t mention it to the referee but I think our bench told the fourth official. But that’s not an excuse for our performance”

Dykes admits Scotland have to get more streetwise as they prepare to go in against the big boys in Germany next summer. He said: “They were just trying to frustrate us but we also need to look at ourselves and admit we weren’t at our best.

“We still want to be a little bit better than that going into the Euros. We have to make sure that when we get there we’re not slipping up.”
