Luton Town forward determined to shock Huddersfield Town and stick it to football world
Luton Town forward Harry Cornick is determined to show Huddersfield Town and the rest of the football world that his side should not be treated as the underdogs in this season’s Championship play-offs.
The Terriers will head to Kenilworth Road for the first leg of the semi-finals in Friday’s 7:45pm kick off before the return leg is held at the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday evening. The final will be played at Wembley on Sunday 29th May in a 4:30pm kick off.
Luton are considered outsiders to go the whole distance in the post-season tournament and return to the top flight for the first time in 30 years, but 12-goal forward Cornick believes he and his teammates have what it takes to pull off a shock, starting with their semi-final against Carlos Corberan’s side.
Huddersfield Town need to embrace unfamiliar new situation as underdog tag no longer fits
He told Luton Today: “We’ve been written off all season. When we came in, first game people were saying ‘you’re the favourites to go down, or be right down there’, so we’re used to that.
"We know that, but when we see the team around us, we know what we’ve got in the changing room and the staff. Everyone works so hard. We knew we had what it takes to do something special. We can use the underdog status, but we don’t think we’re underdogs.
“We think we should be right up there with the favourites, we think we’re a good side, we play good football, we’re dangerous. If we can get the crowd going on Friday night, who knows what can happen? And if we take that away to Huddersfield, who knows what can happen there?”
