Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest play-off final odds revealed as Wembley showdown booked

Huddersfield Town are considered outsiders to win the Championship play-off final when they go head to head with Nottingham Forest at Wembley with a Premier League place on the line.

Carlos Corberan’s side picked up two more points than Forest over the course of the season, overtaking them to finish third on the final day of the campaign before winning their play-off semi-final against Luton Town 2-1 on aggregate with a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road and a 1-0 win at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Forest meanwhile needed a penalty shootout to get past Sheffield United after each side claimed a 2-1 away win, with the Blades coming from two goals down on aggregate at the City Ground before Brice Samba made three saves from the spot.

You might therefore think that the Terriers would go into the final as favourites, especially after going undefeated in nine games since the March international break, winning seven – but it is Forest who the bookies are tipping instead.

Sky Bet have Huddersfield Town priced at 11/4 (3.75) to win the game in 90 minutes while Forest are at evens (2.00). The odds of the game going to extra time are 12/5 (3.40). Town are 6/4 (2.50) to be promoted by any means, while Forest are 1/2 (1.50).

For whatever reason Town’s promotion odds have consistently been priced longer than likes of Forest, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough throughout the season, even despite having usually been in a better position than their then-rivals for a play-off place.
