Luke Littler 'will beat me easily' IF I repeat Glasgow horror show admits Peter Wright before wonderkid showdown

Peter Wright knows he’s the latest big-name target for darting sensation Luke Littler.

The Scottish star admits he will need to improve on a home flop to halt the teenager. But Wright says that, even if it goes wrong in Newcastle on Thursday night, he won’t plunge into a pit of despair. Snakebite faces Littler for the first time on Night Four of the Premier League. The kid has been knocking-off illustrious names since starting out of the circuit at the start of this year and the two-time World Champion is next on his hit-list.

Wright knows what’s coming as he said: “When I was his age and when I went to an exhibition to play one of the pros, I had the attitude that, ‘I’m going to smash you up’. That’s the sort of attitude that Luke has got right now, which is great. It will be nice to play him, I’ve seen what he has done to all the other top pros

“He hasn’t played me yet but if I play like I did last week in Glasgow, he will beat me easily! Hopefully this old boy can still do it against Luke.

“When I play him, I’ve now had another week of practice with these darts. That has got me ready for Newcastle. I’m going to take his phone off him in the backroom so he can’t play games!

“It’s all about myself, I’m not worried about anyone else at all. I feel mentally strong. It’s coming but hopefully not in December, I’d prefer it before the Matchplay and UK Open, that would be nice.”

Wright has not been at his best for a lengthy spell but remains philosophical. With health issues having troubled him last year, the Scot is keeping perspective on the game as he seeks improvements.
