Albion Rovers boss praises side as 10-point haul takes them into Lowland League top 10

Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark praised his side after taking 10 points from a tricky four-game spell to break into the Lowland League top 10.

In the past fortnight Rovers have beaten Broomhill, Linlithgow Rose and Gretna, while also drawing with Broomhill in a rearranged game.

That has taken them up to 10th in the standings, with games in hand, as they aim to finish as high up the table as possible.

And after Aaron Quigg scored a late goal in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Gretna, Clark told the club media: “It has been a hard spell but we’ve done great with the points.

“We’ve had good results and performances.

“On Saturday, I thought the conditions didn’t really help us. The conditions were slippery and we found it hard to get a rhythm and passing movements going.

“We certainly didn’t create a lot of chances but it only takes one to win the game.

“It took a while, but I’m delighted for young Aaron to get it on his debut.

“There’s other games like that where we’ve not taken anything this season, so I will happily take the three points because it was merited.

“We are at home again this weekend to Bo’ness and our form has been good at home recently. That will give us a lot of confidence, that’s for sure.”

Meanwhile, Clark also praised club captain Sean Fagan for hitting a 150-game milestone at the weekend.

He said: “Sean played on Saturday the way he plays most of the time; he was assured, determined and a great leader.

“That is why he is our captain. He doesn’t do a lot wrong. He is a really talented player. I’m delighted for him.”
