'Love coming here' - Brendan Rodgers pays PNE big compliments after Leicester City's win

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers admited he 'loves' coming to Deepdale and felt Preston North End tested his side in the second half in particular of the pre-season friendly 2-1 win for the Premier League outfit.

Leicester well on top throughout the first half with incisive play in and around PNE's area hard to handle. Jamie Vardy beat the offside trap with a late run in behind, rounded Freddie Woodman and placed home to give the Foxes an early lead.

The visitors soon increased their advantage as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who ran the midfield for the opening 45, placed an expertly-weighted ball through the North End defence. Harvey Barnes drove inside the area and cut his finish across Woodman to give his side a second.

Ryan Lowe's change to add a second striker in Ched Evans at half-time paid early dividends as North End looked much more effective going forward. Andrew Hughes found space out wide and delivered a well-timed cross to the back post where Ali McCann arrived late to head home.

Rodgers was pleased with what he saw from his side against North End as both sides prepare for their respective seasons. Having last come to Deepdale as Liverpool boss, Rodgers was pleased to be back at the home of North End as he recognised the problems Lowe's side caused his team after half-time especially.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Rodgers said: You’re trying to prepare to win. It’s not all about the winning at this stage, but the mentality we’re trying to frame with the players is that, if you play at a top club, they always want to win.
