Lothian Running Club ace seals Loch Ness Marathon victory

Lothian Running Club’s Moray Pryde won the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon for the first time in his career.

He was first to cross the finishing line on the 26.2-mile course with a time of 2:22.04 which saw him finish a full two minutes ahead of runner-up Tom Charles of Chorlton Harriers, with Highland Hill Runners member Shaun Cumming in third place with a time of 2:30.35.

Over 5000 runners tackled the course, which takes in the famous loch before finishing in Inverness.

The marathon event was the highlight of the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running event in the Highlands with runners from across the world competing in the main event as well as the River Ness 10k and 5k races.

Moray’s LRC team-mate Craig Pirie also produced a brilliant performance as he broke the three-hour mark. He crossed the line in 23rd place with a time of 2:51.40.
