'Looked out of his depth', 'Exposed' - Beren Cross slams Leeds disaster who made 0 tackles

Leeds United fans had a miserable day on Sunday, not only losing a grudge match at home to a rival, but enduring weather conditions that were woeful for all involved.

It looked like curtains at the interval as goals from Manchester United pair Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes saw Leeds 2-0 down. Then, with just 24 seconds between goals, Leeds were level – Rodrigo and then half-time substitute Raphinha scored to equalise.

Goals from the visitor’s subs took the game beyond Leeds though as Fred and Anthony Elanga ensured the points returned with them to Old Trafford.

Conceding four, the defence is never going to look good, with Pascal Strujk in particular coming in for some criticism.

Beren Cross in his match ratings for Leeds Live had the following to say: “Snapped into a few decent tackles, but looked out of his depth once more when pushed forward. Left exposed by some cavalier attacking in the second half which gave him little support. 6/10.”

You can see why he’s getting a pasting too from the writer. He’s a defender, who in 90 minutes of football, made no tackles and was deemed to make an error that led to a goal.

Such statistics led to him being SofaScore’s lowest rated player in the game. Sunday was not the time to have a disaster, with teams around Leeds picking up points this weekend, sending Marcelo Bielsa’s side closer to the drop zone. The cushion has now been reduced to just five points.
