Erik ten Hag has already outlined his vision amid Manchester United manager search

Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag has already provided Manchester United's hierarchy with an insight into how he would like United to play, amid the club's pursuit of its next permanent manager.

Ten Hag, along with Paris Saint-Germain chief Mauricio Pochettino, has been installed as one of the frontrunners to replace Ralf Rangnick this summer and become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's permanent successor. The Dutchman is a popular choice with the supporters and has been linked with Old Trafford for several months.

Enjoying success both domestically and in Europe with Ajax, Ten Hag, who turned 52 last month, has put the Dutch giants back on the map in recent seasons. They reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019 and breezed through a group containing Besiktas, Borussia Dortmund and Sporting Lisbon this season.

They won Group C with six wins from six games, scoring 20 goals and conceding just five in the process. Furthermore, seven of those 20 goals came against group favourites Dortmund.

With Ajax's results, performances and style of play attracting more and more admiration, calls for United to install Ten Hag as their next boss in recent months have escalated. With that in mind, if they were to get their wish, the Dutchman has already explained how he would look to set United up, placing an emphasis on possession-based football, taking inspiration from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola's time at Bayern Munich.
