Long delays and at least three miles of traffic on M62 motorway due to lorry on fire - live updates

There are long delays on the M62 heading out of Manchester into Yorkshire due to a lorry fire. Two lanes of traffic are closed eastbound on the M62 within junction 22 near Littleborough, Highways Yorkshire, have said.

This is causing at least three miles of traffic which is traffic moving very slowly past the incident. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are on the scene dealing with the incident as well as traffic officers.

Smoke could be seen billowing over the moorland with a long line of stationary traffic behind it. According to traffic website INRIX the fire began around 1.30pm.

A Highways Yorkshire post said: "Lanes 1 and 2 (of 3) are closed on the M62 eastbound within J22, near Littleborough due to a HGV fire. @WYFRS are at the scene along with Traffic Officers who are assisting with traffic management. There are 3 miles of congestion on the approach so please allow extra time."

There are still delays on the M62 due to the earlier lorry fire but it appears to be easing looking at traffic cameras.

INRIX says: "One lane closed and queueing traffic due to earlier vehicle fire on M62 Eastbound after J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor). Travel time is around 35 minutes.Lane one (of three) closed. Fire started at around 13:30."
