Livingston midfielder admits Kilmarnock performance 'can't be repeated'

Livingston midfielder Jason Holt says the Lions went from their best display of the season to their worst - and admits they can’t reproduce their Rugby Park horror show when Dundee visit West Lothian on Saturday.

The experienced midfielder, who is closing in on 100 top flight starts for the club, confessed they simply weren’t good enough during their 3-1 loss to Kilmarnock.

He said: “We shot ourselves in the foot, particularly when you look at the manner of the goals we conceded from set plays.

“In my opinion, that was the worst we’ve played all season. To go one down, get ourselves back in the game and then lose another goal so quickly was a real blow but we didn’t deserve anything from the game.

“We were all just really flat and couldn’t seem to get a grip of the game at all. I thought they were better than us in all areas of the park.

“We’d performed really well to beat Motherwell before the break but this was like the polar opposite. Now we need to find a way to get back to those levels.”

Despite the disappointing nature of the defeat, the Lions are still within touching distance of the top four and the 30-year-old insists they can quickly propel themselves up the table if they can recover from the loss.

He said: “This division is very competitive. You can push yourselves up the table with a couple of wins. Anyone can beat anyone else, which is why it’s so difficult. But we certainly need to improve on that display at Rugby Park because it was really poor.

“Up until then I’d have said our season had been really positive. The only teams who’d beaten us had been the Old Firm and we could easily have won a couple of the games we drew, especially against St Mirren when they scored a last-minute equaliser.”
