Livingston defender admits he feels he's 'let the club down' with spell out injured

Livingston defender Michael Nottingham admits he feels that he’s let the club down but has heaped praise on how they’ve supported him through injury.

The 34-year-old signed in the summer and made just two substitute appearances before suffering Achilles tendonitis that has ruled him out for two months.

However, he’s back in full training and sees the light at the end of the tunnel as he prepares for a return to first-team football.

He said: “It’s been a long two months. It’s been frustrating, physically demanding and mentally challenging but I’ve been through this before and it was just a day-by-day process.

“They’ve been amazing with me, making sure that I take my time to get it right because it should benefit me in the long run.

“Now I’m back out training with the boys which is fantastic. I still feel like I need to get a bit more conditioning and a bit more training and hopefully it won’t be too long before I’m back out there on the pitch.”

The former Accrington Stanley man is hoping he can repay the faith shown in him by boss David Martindale once he’s back to full fitness and says he was desperate to move north of the border for the first time in his career after a single conversation.

He said: “I had a phone call with the manager in the summer about coming here and he’s telling me things I didn’t even know about myself.

“He’s done his research, he’s told me how much
