Livingston boss 'confident' over loan move agreement for Aphelele Teto

Livingston boss David Martindale says he's 'quite confident' the club will have a loan move agreed soon for South African youngster Aphelele Teto.

The Lions agreed a four-year contract with the 20-year-old earlier in the summer. However, he failed in his bid to get a work permit, which now means he will be heading back to Africa on loan until January, at the earliest.

But Martindale feels the club are closing in on an agreement, saying: "We’re confident of getting Teto a move back to Africa. He needs to go back anyway just in order to make a living.

"I’ve seen a few comments online about it all - we don’t pay his wages. TS Galaxy are still paying his wages. Part of the transfer agreement between the sides was the work permit.

"We’ve made the decision that we’re going to upload the contract. I’m quite confident that we’ve got a club in Africa. We’ll submit all the paperwork and he’ll be a Livingston player but they’ll pick up his wages - which isn’t a hell of a lot of money anyway."

He added: "The more and more he trains, the more frustrated I am about him not being able to play but that’s where we are with it.

"In terms of finances, it’s not really a case of balancing any books with him going out because the club’s not in a position to pay him anyway so it was only budgeted for if he got his work permit."
