Livingston boss bemoans 'schoolboy' errors in defeat to 10-men Celtic

Livingston boss David Martindale bemoaned his side's defending and accused his side of being outworked by 10-man Celtic.

The Hoops ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at the Tony Macaroni Arena, with two of those goals coming after Joe Hart had been sent-off for the visitors. The keeper saw red for a rash challenge on Mo Sangare just shy of the half-hour mark.

Reo Hatate had earlier given his side the lead from the penalty spot after he was clipped by Luiyi de Lucas.

Rather than pounce on the man advantage, it was the Hoops who looked the more assured and they doubled their lead three minutes after the break as De Lucas failed to deal with a cross and Matt O'Riley fired home a rebound after Daizen Maeda had seen his effort saved by Shamal George.

Maeda wrapped things up in injury-time with a wonderful turn and finish from the edge of the box.

A dejected Martindale said: "I’m disappointed –the first goal was a schoolboy error as Hatate is going nowhere and he (de Lucas) puts his foot out. I didn’t think there was a lot in the game at that point, we were fairly competitive.

“In all honesty, we were better at 11 v 11 than 10 v 11. The red card was something we worked on in training - getting the front three higher up the park and we got our just rewards from it.

"We built a bit of momentum at that stage and we spoke at half-time about how we were going to try and hurt them – but the second goal came just two minutes after restart. We've actually worked through this - we don't get on the first or second contact.
