Liverpool vs Man City: Salah, Firmino & Mane scared Guardiola

Liverpool vs Manchester City is a fixture that has often decided the Premier League title race in recent years.

On Sunday, however, that may not be the case.

The Reds find themselves 13 points adrift of City at this early stage of the Premier League season and already out of the title race, it seems.

However, they go into the weekend's clash on a high following their 7-1 victory over Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday. Mohamed Salah came off the bench to score a six-minute hat-trick, while Roberto Firmino continued his fantastic form with a brace and an outrageous assist. There was also a goal for club-record signing, Darwin Nunez.

Despite Liverpool's slow start to the campaign, Pep Guardiola and his Man City squad will be wary of facing this Liverpool side.

They're not quite peak Salah, Firmino and Sadio Mane from the 2017/18 season, though.

That trio led Liverpool to a Champions League final before a heartbreaking defeat to Real Madrid.

And despite City strolling to an incredible 100 points during that Premier League campaign, they gave Guardiola's side plenty of problems. City lost their unbeaten league run at Anfield, losing 4-3 and the two sides were drawn against each other in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Amazon's 'All or Nothing' cameras followed City during that centurion campaign and captured a fascinating snippet of Guardiola and his assistants Carles Planchart and Domenec Torrent before a league match away to Everton.

Despite being minutes from taking to the pitch against at Goodison Park, Guardiola's attentions were fully focused on facing the side across Stanley Park in the Champions League.

Check out the exchange below:

Guardiola: “The forwards of Liverpool are good.”

Planchart: “Sorry?”
