Liverpool fan mocks Pep Guardiola with Lionel Messi comment before Man City game

A Liverpool fan mocked Pep Guardiola for his lack of European Cup wins without Lionel Messi ahead of the clash against Manchester City on Sunday.

Liverpool ran out 1-0 winners during a hotly-contested clash at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah scoring the only goal of the match.

It was a game that saw Guardiola have a bit of a meltdown after Man City had a goal ruled out through VAR, while his opposite number, Jurgen Klopp, was sent off for shouting in the assistant referee’s face after he failed to give a free-kick.

After the match, the City boss claimed 'This is Anfield' when asked about the decision to disallow Phil Foden's goal.

The Spaniard also claimed he was pelted by coins during the match by saying: "Next time they will do it better. It didn't get me. They try it again next year. All these coins, they tried, but didn't get it. They got the coach years ago."

Guardiola was referring to when City's team bus was smashed when it arrived at Anfield for a Champions League match in 2018. After Guardiola's post-match comments, the City bus was damaged as it left the stadium.

However, the hostility towards Man City and Guardiola started long before kick off.

As Guardiola emerges from the tunnel, Liverpool supporters are peering over trying to get a glimpse of the superstars. And when one sees the City boss, he took his opportunity.

"No European Cups without Messi. No European Cups," he can be seen - and heard - saying right in Guardiola's face.

Guardiola is still looking for his first Champions League victory with Manchester
