Liverpool experienced a monumental campaign in 2021/22. The Reds finished second in the Premier League table just one point behind the eventual winners, while also reaching the final in three cup competitions.

Jurgen Klopp ended the season with two trophies added to his cabinet. The German coach has now won a total of eight pieces of silverware since taking charge at Anfield in October 2015.

Despite Liverpool's success in the past year, a curious quirk has been attached to their season. In each of their cup finals, they haven't scored a single goal.

It is strange considering the offensive strength which has been exhibited throughout the campaign on Merseyside. In the Premier League, for example, Liverpool averaged a goal roughly every 36 minutes across their 38 matches.

In the finals of the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League, the Reds played 330 minutes without finding the net, with both domestic bouts against Chelsea going into extra time.

Concerns have emerged regarding the record and whether there is something systematically wrong with the team. Is it a mentality issue for the players, or is Klopp doing something differently?
