Liverpool left in no doubt over feelings on Joe Gomez sale amid Aston Villa transfer link

Aston Villa have been linked with a summer raid for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez after he fell down the pecking order at Anfield.

The former Charlton defender was not in the Reds' squad for their win at Burnley on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp opted to include Ibrahima Konate for the trip to Turf Moor.

Villa head coach Steven Gerrard has been strongly tipped to raid his old club for the centre-back who has fought back from a serious knee injury sustained while on England duty.

Liverpool are well blessed with centre-back options with Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Konate and Gomez all vying for a place in the heart of the defence.

Gomez has not featured much at all for Liverpool this season despite his return to fitness which has sparked speculation over his long-term future.

But Liverpool fans are eager for Gomez to stay as they discussed the fate of four players who could move on from Anfield this summer.

News on Villa's interest in Gomez comes as the Daily Mail's Tom Collomosse suggested Villa might make a move to upgrade their options at centre-back this summer, with Joe Gomez of Liverpool once again being linked.
