Liverpool leading transfer race for Jobe Bellingham amid Man City and Newcastle hopes

Liverpool are among the early frontrunners to sign Bellingham – Jobe Bellingham.

The Reds have asked to be kept informed of the youngster’s situation at Birmingham City. Premier League clubs have been put on alert the 16-year-old, brother of Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude, could be up for grabs.

Jobe has been offered scholarship terms by the Blues, but is free to sign a contract with other clubs from next season. However, Birmingham are fighting to keep hold of the young forward and are believed to be giving him assurances over his future development.

The teenager has already played three times in Lee Bowyer’s first team and made a 30-minute appearance from the bench in the final game of the season against Blackburn Rovers. Liverpool are one of several clubs who have been made aware of his situation, with Manchester City and Newcastle United among the others.

Jobe's versatility is one attribute that has made him such an attractive prospect to so many top sides, with the 16-year-old able to play multiple positions across the midfield. He has even been deployed at both left-wing and centre-forward at youth level for Birmingham.

A keen eye for goal would have also done no harm to his chances of a bigger club prying him away from St. Andrews in a similar fashion to how Dortmund did with his older brother. Whether Jobe could go on to also become one of the most highly-rated prospects in European football like Jude remains to be seen.
