Top 5 Football Documentaries on Netflix

Football documentaries give us insight into the sport we love from a behind-the-scenes perspective. Netflix, over the years, has released a multitude of football documentaries, focusing on some of the greats to have ever played the game to notable seasons within a team’s career.

Here are five of the highest-rated Netflix Original football documentaries that are a must-watch now that the football season has finished, courtesy of GiveMeSport.

1) Sunderland ‘Til I Die

After a disappointing 2015-16 season in the Premier League, the Black Cats were relegated to the Championship for the first time in 10 years.

This documentary series focuses on Sunderland’s experience in the Championship and gives a behind the scenes insight into different elements and aspects of the club that we don’t see when tuning into Sky Sports for games.

This documentary shows the love that Sunderland fans have for their club, but also the anger towards higher-ups and players who have put their club in positions that has led them to this point.

The documentary touches on many issues such as; upset and unsettlement of players, lack of business in the transfer window, and suffering a huge financial hit due to their relegation. This club will either sink or swim in this 8-part series.

It takes a very similar approach in season two, using the same filming techniques and scenes to mirror that of season one, just with different staff and players documented across a whole new football season.

Sunderland ‘Til I Die is a great watch for any sport/football fan as it shows a whole new perspective from a struggling club rather than focusing attention on the giants in the sport. This documentary received an astounding 8.6/10 on IMDB.

2) First Team Juventus
