Liverpool: £22.5m rising star Klopp told to sign 'could play in any top team'

Conor Gallagher is capable of playing for a top side such as Liverpool, according to pundit Carlton Palmer.

Gallagher is on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea, and former Blues striker Tony Cascarino recently claimed that the 22-year-old would be an excellent signing for Liverpool.

In his time at Palace, Gallagher has been a revelation, scoring eight goals for Patrick Vieira’s side in the Premier League.

He has received three international caps for England this term as well, and Cascarino feels he is ready to make the step up to a club challenging for major silverware.

Cascarino recently told talkSPORT that Gallagher would bolster Liverpool’s squad if he moved to Anfield.

“Conor Gallagher is an outstanding attacking midfielder who always looks like he’s going to get a goal or make an assist,” he said.

“I like him because I don’t think there’s too many of his type around.

“Liverpool, for me, if they had a player like that as well adding him behind their front three, with his ability to get goals. Chelsea would never sell him to Liverpool, but they’d do really well with him.”

Palmer agrees with Cascarino that Gallagher would not look out of place at a top club such as Liverpool. He also concurs with the ex-forward’s assessment that Chelsea are very unlikely to offload the £22.5m-rated midfielder to the Merseyside club.

Palmer told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he could play in any of the top teams, there isn’t a problem about that. But why would Chelsea sell him to their rivals? They’re not going to do that.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side have an abundance of talent in the middle of the park, including Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita.
