Sir Alex Ferguson told Jamie Carragher he was worried about Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is on course to go down as one of the greatest managers of all time. 

The charismatic German coach enjoyed early success with Mainz 05 before winning two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund.

But it’s at Anfield where Klopp has cemented his status as one of the world’s best football managers – if not *the* best.

Klopp and Liverpool have been a match made in heaven since his appointment in October 2015.

Now the Premier League’s longest-serving manager after Burnley sacked Sean Dyche last week, Klopp has won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the EFL Cup with the Reds.

Most importantly, he was the manager who masterminded Liverpool’s 2019-20 title win, ending the club’s 30-year wait to become champions of England in the process.

They could lift the Premier League trophy again this season. In fact, the Merseyside outfit might even win an unprecedented quadruple.

The way they’re playing right now, you certainly wouldn’t bet against them.

Following Tuesday’s emphatic 4-0 victory over rivals Manchester United, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher revealed an interesting anecdote about Sir Alex Ferguson.

“I played in a game at Old Trafford, I think it was Michael Carrick’s testimonial, and Alex Ferguson went around the dressing room shaking hands, saying ‘thanks for coming’, I think he was manager of one of the teams,” he told the Gary Neville Podcast.

“Jurgen Klopp had been at the club about a month and he [Ferguson] came to me and said, ‘you’ve got a manager’. I went, ‘oh yeah, good, Jurgen Klopp’s made a decent start’, and he [Ferguson] said, ‘no, no, I’m worried’.
