Liverpool: £120k-a-week star could now follow Sadio Mane in leaving Anfield

Liverpool could offload Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The £120,000 per-week star was once an important player for Jurgen Klopp, but his game-time has reduced significantly in the last two seasons, which could lead to the Reds moving him on.

Having joined from Arsenal in the summer of 2017, the midfielder was a regular in his first season at Anfield, making 46 appearances as Liverpool reached the Champions League final.

However, a serious knee injury sustained in the semi-finals against Roma saw him miss the final and would keep him sidelined for almost exactly a year.

He did enjoy a bright campaign when Liverpool won the Premier League in 2019-2020 but his chances have almost completely diminished across the last two years, playing less than 1100 minutes in the league.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was linked away from Merseyside 12 months ago, but ended up staying, although Taylor thinks the ex-Arsenal midfielder will finally leave Anfield this summer after five years and 133 appearances for the Reds.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I expect him to stay in the Premier League, although he’s going to leave Liverpool because they haven’t played him, and he’s only got a year left.

“I don’t think at the moment there’s anything concrete, but Liverpool will market him.”
