Liverpool: £25k-a-week star now 'set to leave' Anfield

Liverpool signing Calvin Ramsay should allow Neco Williams to leave Anfield, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The teenager was announced as Jurgen Klopp’s third summer addition on Sunday, although Jones reckons his arrival will mark the end of Williams’ stay on Merseyside.

According to The Times, Liverpool had agreed a £4m deal with Aberdeen for Ramsay, who’s set to provide competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

The report states that Ramsay will become Klopp’s final signing of the summer, with Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez joining from Fulham and Benfica already.

Meanwhile, 90min believe Fulham are hoping to sign Williams on a permanent deal after his loan spell at Craven Cottage in the second half of last season, in which he scored twice and assisted twice in 15 outings and helped the Londoners return to the Premier League.

Williams, who earns £25,000 per-week, has never been a regular at Liverpool but did make 33 appearances in all competitions and was once described by Klopp as a ‘monster‘ for the way he trained.

However, despite signing a contract less than two years ago, Jones reckons he might have played his last game for the Reds.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “One of the things it will do is lead to the exit of Neco Williams. Fulham are obviously in the hunt for him and do expect to sign him at this point. It’ll be interesting to see how Liverpool react to that.

“There’s no doubt Calvin Ramsay is good, but there’s some people that felt like Williams was the perfect player to follow on from Trent, so it’s an interesting decision from Liverpool.”
