Live updates as two crashes in same spot cause long queues on M4

There are long queues on the M4 near Newport after two crashes. The M4 eastbound around the Brynglas tunnels is congested after a two incidents on the carriagway. The first happened at around 7.15am.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix says the crash happened eastbound between junction 24 and junction 23A. There were long queues in the area from junction 27 for the B4591 Glasllwch Crescent (Highcross) and junction 25 B4596 Caerleon Road (Caerleon). Traffic cleared at around 8am.

However, as traffic from the first crash cleared a second crash has caused a fresh round of chaos around the same junction. Just before 8:15am, a second crash on the Eastbound carriageway just before the tunnels also caused queues.

One lane is blocked and there is queueing traffic due to an accident with two cars involved on M4 Eastbound from J27 B4591 Glasllwch Crescent (Highcross) to J26 A4051 (Malpas Road). Congestion to J29 (A48(M) Interchange). Lane two (of three) is blocked.
