Live updates as police warn of snow and ice on major Welsh road

Police have warned on Sunday morning that conditions on the main road from north to south Wales are "extremely poor" because of snow and ice. Dyfed Powys Police has urged people planning on using the A470 to "only travel if your journey is necessary".

They have also told motorists to plan extra time for your journey. The Met Office forecast for Wales has warned that it will stay "very windy" today after a wintry start.

There is also a yellow weather warning for high winds across the whole of Wales today. You can see the weather maps here showing where will be hit worst. The warning says: "Strong and gusty northwesterly winds are expected to develop on Sunday. Gusts of 50-60 mph are expected quite widely, and around some exposed coasts and hills of gusts 70 mph are possible, especially in the north and west. In addition, squally showers are likely with some hail and thunder possible in places."
