Live updates as Treherbert road closed and major emergency services presence at scene
Fire crews have been dealing with a fire at a hotel in Treherbert this morning. A statement from the Baglan Hotel say that no-one has been injured but there has been fire damage to the building.
A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue said they were called to the scene at 5.48am on Friday (September 15) and three crews are on the scene.
The nearby railway line between Treherbert and Treorchy, was closed and there is a warning that rail replacement buses will not be able to serve Treherbert until further notice. Buses will start / finish at Ynyswen.
The street was closed from Penyrenglyn Primary School to Ynyswen Hall for more than two hours but re-opened at 8.20am. Traffic between Treherbert and Treorchy was affected.
A statement from the Baglan Hotel said: "We are clearly going to have to have a major clean up operation before our food side can re commence. Thank you so much to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service for their lightning response to our emergency and thank you also to the community who tried to get to work but had to divert around us we are sorry."
