LIVE: M61 and A666 long delays after car fire on major road - latest updates

Heavy traffic is building on the M61 and a major road after a car fire near Bolton.

Crews have attended an incident on the A666 St Peter's Way this morning (April 29).

Images from the scene show a grey Nissan Juke had been on fire at the side of the road.

Police and firefighters were in attendance and a lane had been closed on the A666 approaching Bolton.

The incident has been affecting traffic on both the A666 and M61, heading from the M60.

Google data shows delays building up from the Kearsley Spur, in Salford, approaching the fire scene.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for further details.
