Live updates as rail strikes cause massive disruption for train passengers in Wales

There will be more disruption for train passengers on Wednesday as rail workers go on strike again as part of a dispute over pay. The national union of Rail, Maritime, and Transport Workers (RMT) will go on strike today, affecting numerous services across Wales.

All operators who run services in Wales say there will be disruption across the majority of services which won't be limited to strike days. While Transport for Wales isn't involved the dispute, its services will be affected, with the majority of services on the Wales and Borders network suspended on Wednesday

Passengers have also been warned that there is expected to be disruption on Thursday following the industrial action, and are advised to check before they travel due to the strikes. Train drivers’ union Aslef has also announced its members will strike later in the week on Saturday, July 30.

Great Western Rail has said it will operate an extremely limited service between 7am and 6.30pm and last trains will leave much earlier. Due to the timing of the strike action, services after strike days will also be affected. Passengers are advised to find alternative ways to travel on these days and to only travel if absolutely necessary. The majority of train services will not operate and there will be no services on some routes.

Avanti West Coast has published revised timetables for travel and says passengers can amend their tickets, or ask for a refund. "If you do travel, expect severe disruption and plan ahead.
