Bolton Wanderers injury update on Dion Charles ahead of Salford City & potential return date

Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has confirmed that striker Dion Charles is likely to be back in action later this month when the Whites take on Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites are in Carabao Cup action tomorrow night against the Ammies. Evatt's side take on the League Two outfit at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers boast a 100% record against the Peninsula Stadium outfit. Bolton beat the Ammies in the two meetings the sides had in League Two during the 2020/21 campaign.

Charles missed the weekend win over Wycombe Wanderers owing to a slight thigh strain. He was replaced in the team by Amadou Bakayoko.

Ahead of taking on the Ammies, Evatt confirmed the striker is set to miss the upcoming League One clashes against Port Vale and Morecambe, but it poised to be back when the Owls visit the University of Bolton Stadium on August 20. The Bolton boss is looking forward to the clash against the Ammies and the team selection choices that come with it.

Evatt said: “ Dion won’t be back and available probably until Sheffield Wednesday.

"A good game for us. A tough game, I have watched a fair bit of them over the weekend. Some nice patterns, in-possession team. They have got some good players, they look like they are well coached. So I think it will be a good challenge, a good test.

“Every game has a different challenge. We have done a lot of work on Salford. We will have a look at what we feel are their strengths and weaknesses and then pick a team accordingly. We have got a fantastic squad of players with very little drop off, so as I said we will look at it and pick a team that we think is capable of winning the
