Live updates as Prince and Princess of Wales visit Cardiff

The Prince and Princess of Wales are visting Cardiff on Tuesday, October 3. The couple are in the capital to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush to the UK and mark the start of Black History Month.

It is the second visit of Kate and William to Wales in just over a month after they attended a service at St David's Cathedral to mark the first anniversary of the Queen's death. You can get more story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.

Black History Month 2023 recognises and celebrates the invaluable contributions of black people to British society. The first stop of the day was at the Grange Pavilion in Grangetown where they were greeted by local schoolchildren and met members of the Windrush Generation. There was also time for a game of table tennis, but it is unclear who was the winner.

After visiting the Pavilion, they couple visited the newly-opened Fitzalan High School in Leckwith. They heard from pupils about the work they have been doing around black history and learn about the vocational courses the school provides.
