Police respond to 'stabbing' as road taped off and major emergency response prompted - live updates

A street has been taped off as police launch an investigation following a 'stabbing' in Radcliffe. It comes after a 34-year-old man has been rushed to hospital following after being found 'seriously injured.'

Officers were called out to Water Street at around 11.30am this morning (October 15). The cause of the man's injuries have not been confirmed but the M.E.N understands police responded to reports of a stabbing.

Greater Manchester Police says it is currently investigating the circumstances. The incident is believed to be isolated, however.

Eye witnesses have described seeing the air ambulance, paramedics, police and crime scene investigators at the scene.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 11:30am today (October 15, 2023) Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a man seriously injured outside a premises on Water Street in Radcliffe. Officers and paramedics attended, and a 34 year old man was taken to hospital.

"Water Street is currently closed as an investigation is underway to understand the circumstances that led to this man’s injuries. Initial enquiries point to this being an isolated incident, with no threat to the wider public."

A nearby shopkeeper has told the Manchester Evening News this afternoon that there had been a party at a property on Grosvenor Street.

Shortly before 11.30am, he reported seeing a man and woman crossing the street towards Tesco on Water Street and that the man was 'covered in blood'.
