Live updates as body found in car after fire involving multiple vehicles

An investigation is underway after a body was found inside a vehicle in Porthcawl following a fire. Emergency services were called to what has been described as a "fire incident" involving multiple vehicles in Mackworth Road in the early hours of Thursday morning (August 28).

Once the fire was extinguished, emergency personnel found a deceased person inside one of the vehicles. Formal identification has yet to be carried out. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire, a spokeswoman for South Wales Police said.

A cordon remains in place in the area while investigations are carried out. Mackworth Road is located just behind the Coney Beach Amusement Park.
