LIVE: Trains between Manchester and Bolton cancelled after damage to overhead wires - latest updates
There is 'severe disruption' on the railway this morning after overhead wires near Kearsley were damaged.
It is causing train journeys between Manchester and Preston to be delayed and diverted as trains are unable to pass through Bolton. No trains at all are arriving or departing from Bolton Railway Station until at least 9.51am but this could be pushed back if the problem is not sorted.
The issues have also caused a knock-on effect to other public transport services and these are expected to be much busier as a result.
