LIVE Traffic STOPPED on motorway following crash with 'overturned car'

Traffic has been completely stopped on a motorway due to a collision. The M61 northbound near Manchester between junction 1 and 2 has been closed after a car overturned in a crash.

Traffic is building on the motorway due to the crash. This is also causing congestion on surrounding roads, including the M60 and M602.

It is also busy in nearby Walkden and Worsley. Local traffic Twitter account MancTraffic posted: "M61 n/b M60-j2 queues building after a crash involving an overturned car.

"Congestion on the M60 c/w through j12 mixing with the peak traffic from j8, ac/w from j17 with congestion also affecting the M602 w/b and M62 e/b j11-12. Surrounding routes heavy into Worsley & Walkden."

In a Twitter post, Highways England North West said: "The #M61 northbound between J1 ( #M60 ) and J2 near #Manchester, traffic has been temporarily STOPPED due to a collision. We will keep you updated."
