LIVE: Stretch of busy road taped off by police after crash - latest updates

A stretch of a busy road has been taped off by police this morning after a crash.

Manchester Road, near where the road merges with Wilmslow Road, in east Didsbury is currently closed off. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed officers were called to a crash at around 6.30am today (Friday).

No further details on the incident have been released at this stage. The road is reportedly taped off near the Parrs Wood complex, just over the border from Cheadle.

Some bus services are being diverted due to the incident. A tweet posted by Stagecoach said: "Routes 42B/42C. Due to the current diversion in place for the closure of Wilmslow Rd/Manchester Rd in #EastDidsbury, we've delays averaging 25 minutes.

"Services are diverting both ways via Kingsway/Gatley Rd. Stops on Manchester Rd and High St are not being served."

A spokesperson for GMP said officers were called to the scene on Wilmslow Road/Manchester at around 6.30am.

They were called to reports of a road traffic collision.

No further details have been released at this stage.
