LIVE: Road in Oldham closed following 'police incident - updates

A main road through Oldham is closed following a 'police incident'. Ripponden Road in Moorside is cordoned off close to the junction with Sholver lane.

Pictures from the scene show a number of emergency services at the busy junction. Witnesses have said the closure follows a motorbike crash.

The Bee Network posted on X, formerly Twitter: "A road closure between Turf Pit Lane and Sholver Lane is in place due to a Police incident on A672 Ripponden Road. The 82 & 83 bus services will divert via Wilkes Street, and delays will affect the 356 bus."

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for a comment.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix is reporting Ripponden Road is closed in both directions due to an accident. There's slow traffic from Grafton Street Street to Whinberry Way.
